I want to do something quite simple, but hours of reading Acrobat's help files and watching videos has not shown me how to do this simple task.
I have created a simple PDF form using Acrobat 9.0 Pro. What I want to do is to put this PDF on my web site, to be downloaded by people there via a posted link on our index page. When they are finished filling in their responses to the form, I want them to click a "Submit by Email" button on the form. This will launch their email program and create an email with their completed PDF as an attachment, to be emailed to a pre-set specfied email address which appears in the To: field of the form.
I do NOT want the attachment to be the XML data generated by the form. I want it to be the actual PDF form itself, with the responses shown as typed in by the respondent. I do not want or need server side processing of the forms. All the help tutorials and videos showed me was how to do more fancy things, using adobe.com.

When the recipient clicks the "Submit by Email" button at the top, it launches their email software and a message with their PDF, with their answers filled in, as an attachment.
Can anyone point me to any documents etc. which explain how I can set this up? Thanks.

You may want to try using the "Extend Features in Adobe Reader" function located under the "Advanced" tab Menu Bar.
Create a return email button using the Button Tool. Under the Button Properties Action Tab select Execute Menu Item the select File >Attach to Email
Hopefully this is a solution for you

Thanks, Bob. Your note helped me find how to make this happen. When I created the return email button with the Button Tool as you suggested, I discovered in the Object Palette a radio button called "Control Type". When I clicked the Submit choice, it created a new tab called "Submit". There I can type in a mailto: email address for the recipient (but you have to hit Enter for it to stick), and under the Submit: drop down box I could choose "PDF" rather than "XML" which is what I got yesterday in my tests of this. (Again, you have to hit Enter for this choice to stick.)
