This is the situation: I tried to print a .pdf file with a watermark using Acrobat Reader 8. Even though the file loaded onto the screen fully, it printed the first page but only portions of the last two pages. One of the portions was the watermark with text showing through the inside outline of the watermark. File printed fine with Acrobat Pro. We found that you could print from the Reader if the "print as an image" box was checked in the Advanced window of the Print screen. What would cause this situation and how often does it occur?
My Product Information:
Reader Pro 8 / Windows

There may be any number of reasons for why a file may print perfectly fine in one instance and not in another.
First of all, the fact that the file does print using the “print as image” option in Adobe Reader is indicative of some problem with your settings for the printer driver, possible problems with the printer driver itself, bugs in the printer's firmware, and/or limits in the printer's resources such as memory.
Secondly, the good news is that if the same prints without a problem on via Acrobat Pro 8, you at least have basis for comparision to start “debugging” the problem.
I assume that you are printing the same document to one particular printer, the first time from a system with Acrobat Pro 8 (system 1) and the second time from a system with Adobe Reader 8 (system 2).
Compare ALL the driver settings for system 1 and system 2 (and that includes all preferences and advanced settings buried down deep in the driver menu and button hierarchies). If different, make the settings for system 2's printer driver exactly match those of system 1.
Compare all common settings in the print dialog system 1 (Acrobat Pro) and system 2 (Adobe Reader) as well as any advanced settings. Reader's settings are a subset of those of Acrobat Pro, but make sure that those in common match exactly.
Note that if the printer is a PostScript printer, you should set the printer's front panel and/or driver settings to “send a PostScript error handler” with each job. If the print job is failing due to a PostScript error, you will get a printed page with the error analysis which might help diagnose the problem.
If in fact, you are printing to different devices from the two systems, then to really isolate the problem you need to print to a common device where you hopefully can get consistent results, good or bad.
Please follow-up with what you find based on the above suggestions and we will try to assist further.

Maybe my situation was just a fluke. But let me clarify. Subject file loaded into and was fully viewable in both Acrobat 6 Pro and Reader 8. File printed fully from Pro with watermark showing through on the document page. Printing to the same network printer from Reader 8, the same file printed the first page (no watermark present) but both of the next two pages (3 page document) which included a watermark printed only the outline of the watermark with the body of document showing through (but only within the watermark's outline). The printer's settings were not changed for either print job. The printer is a Lexmark monochrome printer. Again, situation was resolved by printing in the "print as image" mode. Purpose of asking the question was to document the resolution and to inquire about the possible cause of the situation in the first place. Subject file was downloaded from a website; so how it was created is unknown.
