Shared Review & Signatures

When a document is sent for shared review, is there any way for the reviewers to place a signature and have it save with the document?  Essentially I'm trying to figure out a way to get multiple signatures on a piece without having to send an individual email around to everyone in the group?

Re: Shared Review & Signatures

Hi kipperc,

Assuming your reviewers are using the Adobe Reader, you can use the following command in Acrobat 8 Pro. to Reader-enable your PDF. Advanced --> Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader. This will allow reviewers to sign the PDF in an existing digital signature field and save the document. If everyone is using Reader 8, then they can also digitially sign the document anywhere on the page and save the PDF.

Hope this helps,
Lori

Re: Shared Review & Signatures

Like the author of the original question, I too would like to have a SHARED REVIEW, but also like him, part of the review process is that those reviewing would sign the doc to indicate they have seen it.

When viewing a PDF in a SHARED REVIEW, it appears that the PLACE SIGNATURE option is grayed out and cannot be used.  Is there any way around this so that reviewers can place their signature on this SHARED REVIEW doc?

Re: Shared Review & Signatures

Unfortunately, digitial signatures are treated differently than comments since only comments are stored in the comment repositories. Here are a few other ideas to incorporate approvals:
- Create a separate "Approval PDF" and allow reviewers to email it to the repository.
- Post a separate "Approval PDF"  with a Submit button and save to it the appropriate repository.

Re: Shared Review & Signatures

I think the Approval PDF method will not be popular with what we want to do because it would mean having to open two docs.  It is difficult enough getting everyone to just open the one.
We are thinking instead that we will use the comments as signatures (it is internal doc only and comments are identified by author) and readers will have to put a comment box "ack'g" that they have read the doc (in addition to any other comments they might have).
Thanks for the speedy response.
