Greyscale parts of images print as black (Mac)

PDFs printed on my Mac PowerBook (OS 10.4.10) show solid black where greyscale shadows etc in images have shown on screen. Text is unaffected. This occurs on two printers (different brands) attached to this Mac.

On my wife's PowerBook (also OS 10.4.10), the same file prints as you would expect. One of her two printers is identical to one of mine.

I'm therefore inclined to think that one of my Acrobat Pro 7 preferences needs amending. Unfortunately I've hunted through but can't find a likely preference.

Help would be much appreciated; I've searched extensively in the Acrobat Community postings but haven't been able to find previous discussion of this problem.

Re: Greyscale parts of images print as black (Mac)

Hello

You can change the printing colour by selecting a different profile under Print / Advanced / Color Management /

This would explain the differences on both systems

All the best,

Re: Greyscale parts of images print as black (Mac)

Thank you, John.

Turned out my preferences were set to b&w in "Color management".

I appreciate your help. A simple solution, but not for someone for whom the preference settings seem byzantine...
