Black & White Ad converts to CMYK after distilling it for Publication.

Black & White Ad converts to CMYK after distilling it for Newspaper Publication.

I'm using Freehand to create Black & White Ads, in the file their is no process or PMS colors being used in the file. The print dialiog box confirms that the Ad is only a B&W. I'm converting it to a PS post script file and then using distiller on the "High Quality Print" to convert it.

In Acrobat when I go to Advance in the menu bar, to  Print production to Print Preview it shows up as CMYK when colors are deselected. This is not acceptible to Newspapers who might run it on a color form. Do you know a way to stop Distiller from converting this or to convert this back to just a Black & White file -- Thanks

Hello

The High Quality option in Distiller does not convert any colours - it leaves them unchanged.

I've not used Freehand for many years but as a starting point, open the images in Adobe Photoshop to check their colour space.

Let me know if this helps clarify the situation?

Cheers,

Jon
