File >> Email option in Reader

Greetings -

Is the File >> Email option available by default in Reader 7 or 8, or is it a special setting?
If so, were can I turn on the setting?

Some of our users have this option available, some do not.

Thank you

Re: File >> Email option in Reader

The nomenclature is a little different between Acrobat 7 and 8. In 7 you have the File > Email command and in 8 you have File > Attach to Email. Essentially they both do the same thing.

Both are menu commands and should be available on any computer where 7 or 8 is installed.

The tools in the File toolbar however is a different thing. You can hide the File toolbar in 7 and you can individually hide tools in Acrobat 8. In version 8 use the More Tools window (open a context menu on the Toolbar Well and choose More Tools). Check the box for the Attach to Email tool in the More Tools window if it is unchecked.

If indeed your users don't see the menu commands, then there might be something wrong with the Acrobat installation. I'd recommend checking this out thoroughly before doing any uninstalls/reinstalls.

Re: File >> Email option in Reader

i bring back to life this topic because i have doubt about this subject. Is it possible, programmatically (vb6), set the email button to be visible ? So far the only way to get access to the button is setting the toolbar manually.

Another doubt, is it possible to send parameters to the email button ? For instance, when i've a pdf open in the acropdf control, if i click in email, first a pop-up message appears (can i turn it off?), and then my default email client is loaded, and he already have an attachment and a subject,. Is it possible to set up those and others parameters like message body  ?

Thank you
