Detect for browser pdf supported

How can I detect if browser is supported Application/PDF for represent it as Iframe. If browser is not supported pdf I have to sujest user to install it and do not put pdf file in iframe


My Product Information:
Reader Standard 6 / Windows

do you only care if Adobe Acrobat/Reader is installed or are you also willing to take other 3rd party PDF viewers?

Do you need this solution to work only on Windows, or also on Mac OS X and/or Linux platforms?

Does this only need to work with IE, or all possible browsers?

In case you didn't get the message - it's NOT a simple problem with a single solution...

I ask the same question. It's for a public facing website so yes to 3rd party, Mac, x-browser etc...

If this is only possible on windows + IE, that would be better than nothing.
