3d pdf creation

How can I create a PDF with a 3D model in it that utilizes U3D's progressive CLOD feature, to allow users to interact with a model before it's completely finished streaming from a network?  This is supported by Acrobat reader, but I couldn't find any option in Acrobat 8 3D to create such files.

My Product Information:
Acrobat 3D 8.1 / Windows

Re: 3d pdf creation

When converting 3D models to U3D, Acrobat 3D only supports a subset of the ECMA U3D specification, i.e., not all entities and features of U3D are implemented. There are documents available here , that provide information on what part of the U3D specification is implemented in Acrobat 3D Version 7 and 8.

Also, there is no geometry creation capability in Acrobat 3D. All of the Acrobat products are designed to convert existing content to PDF. You will need to use a geometry creation tool to build your models and then import that into Acrobat3D and choose the U3D storage option. You can build primitive geometric entity types with bundled 3D toolkit and save that as U3D. The only options for configuring the U3D are found in:

Edit -> Preferences -> Convert to PDF
