Reader launches while Web surfing

Hi. I have Acrobat Reader, version 8.0, and it launches when I open certain Web sites. Well, it tries to launch but fails, gumming up the works until I get a message saying "Adobe Acrobat has failed to launch. Please shut down..." or some such. Have you heard of this? Might it be a virus? (I've scanned several times, to no avail.) Thanks.

My Product Information:
Reader Standard 8.1 / Windows

Re: Reader launches while Web surfing

Try uninstalling Reader, restart your machine, re-install Reader, update to Reader 8.1.

Then, start Reader and "Accept" the license agreement before surfing the web.  This is a one-time thing.  This License window can sometimes appear to trip up your system as you open a PDF in the browser plugin.
