When I create a form from the Form menu dropdown, the Automatic Field Detection is greyed-out unless I'm working on an already opened pdf file. When I start a form and select a PDF page already on disk,the option shows but it cannot be accessed. What's the problem with what I'm doing. Acrobat 8.1 Pro, Win xp SP 2.

The option won't appear if you've already added fields to the form. It's there to take a NON-FORM and add fields.
