I just completed a newsletter in word and converted it to pdf. However, the conversion did not bring over the background color that I had established in word. Can you tell me why and if I can fix it? I tried several conversion settings but to no avail.

It may be an issue with the design of the document in Word. You might try creating a background color in Word or another application, and import the backgroud in Acrobat by selecting Document > Background > Add/Replace.
