Getting Acrobat 3D to work in PDFs created from Word.

Hi,

I have a question regarding Acrobat 3D. I am running an evaluation version on Windows XP. Mostly with good results, however, in Reader V 8.0.0, I am unable to view 3D files that are embeded in Word and then saved as a PDF.

I am using the 'insert acrobat 3D model' icon from the Word toolbar, browsing to a.u3d or a .rh model created in Acrobat Toolkit and inserting the model.

All appears well in word. However, in Reader the image is visible when the document is loaded but when I click on it to activate the 3D toolbar I receive this message: "This 3D format is supported by a more recent release of Adobe Acrobat or Reader, please update."

The image then diappears.

Any clues to help resolve this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Getting Acrobat 3D to work in PDFs created from Word.

Acrobat 3D V8 is really built on v8.1. If you are storing geometry post-coversion to PDF using the new PRC or U3D 3.0 formats inside of PDF (Default is PRC), you will need to use the beta version of the 8.1 Reader that corresponds to the exact beta build you are using.  Alternatively, you can select U3D 1.0 as the geometry storage and you can then generate the PDF and view it with the Reader 7.0 and higher.
