White haze, muted colors.

What causes and how do I remove the white haze that appears on all my pdfs. Vivid color and blacks appear for a fraction of a second then are muted.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8 / Macintosh

Re: White haze, muted colors.

Let's test this out and try to pinpoint exactly where the problem lies. Have you downloaded a PDF from the Web? Open a PDF you download from Adobe's Web site and look it over. Is the appearance the same as those PDFs you create? Try to rule out any problems with your montior display first.

If you can see PDFs created by others properly, then we'll need to look at a problem with PDF creation on your computer.

If the PDFs appear the same, you may need to take a look at your Preferences settings particularly the Page Display and Accessibility Preferences.

Re: White haze, muted colors.

Thanks for your reply. I had already tried your suggestions to no avail. However, I Googled "white haze on pdf" and found the following link on adobeforum that addresses the same problem:
http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?14@@.3bc2c7c3

When I open the Output Preview window, the haze goes away as long as the window is open.

Problem became apparent after installing Acrobat 8 Pro.
(Monitor: Apple 23" LCD, res 1920 x 1200, 32-bit Color).
Thanks, DP.
