Boston Acrobat User Group

Meeting Notes Archive

January 25, 2007

Thank you to everyone who attended the Boston Acrobat User Community meeting at the Boston Architectural College this past Thursday, January 25th, 2007. A special welcome to those who have recently joined our group and were attending their first Acrobat meeting. And a special "thank you" to Andrea and the staff at the BAC for letting us use their great facilities.

As before, this session was simultaneously presented online using Acrobat Connect Professional. We had 15 online attendees from Massachusetts, Michigan and Nova Scotia, and many more in person. Our online attendees had a very good experience, and were as proactive and engaged as the live audience! The online participants, although in a listen-only mode, could interact with the live audience and ask questions through Chat and polling. For some, it was the first time they were participating in a live meeting using Acrobat Connect, and I'm sure it won't be the last!

Ali Hanyaloglu, our chapter leader, hosted and presented another informational session on the new capabilities of Acrobat 8 Professional, namely Redaction, Document Examination, and Shared Reviews. Based on the questions posed by the online and live attendees, we also covered removing document properties in a batch fashion, Acrobat 7.0 email-based reviews, and document security considerations when sending out a PDF for printing and reviewing.

We had some very encouraging feedback from attendees:

"These sessions continue to provide useful, well presented information at the grass roots level. Good questions!"

"I think I will add this to my schedule. I'll try to [attend in person] but will definitely do it electronically."

Congratulations to our prize-winners: Jim, Paul, Sue, Angie, Bob, Kathy, Stephen and Naveen who won t-shirts, books, software or other goodies!

Our next meeting is being planned right now, but we will be discussing Acrobat Connect and Acrobat Connect Professional for online meetings; how you can use it in your organization; and brainstorm ways we can leverage the technology for our user community. So look out for the email invitation soon.

In the meantime, I would like to invite the Boston Acrobat User Community to join the Boston InDesign User Group at their next meeting on February 19th. To register and get information on the venue, time and agenda, visit www.indesignusergroup.com.

Finally, please continue to tell your colleagues, friends, customers and partners about the Acrobat User Community and acrobatusers.com, irrespective of where they are. One thing many of us agreed on at this meeting was that we could all be more productive at what we do if others we work with would use this powerful Acrobat technology too. That's the goal of the Acrobat User Community.

Best wishes to you all.
