This question came up on a private list: How do I set an Acrobat text field to start in the middle, top or bottom of the field?
Note that is applies to forms created in Acrobat Professional, not LiveCycle Designer. This feature has been available since version 6. (This tip has been updated for Acrobat 9.)
1) Add a Text field.
2) Go to the Options menu in the Properties window and enable Rich Text Formatting.
2) Go to Preview/Hand/Close Editing mode.
3) Enter some text and select it.
4) Bring up the Properties Toolbar.
5) Click on More.
6) Click on Paragraph. You have basic para formatting options now, including top, bottom and middle alignment. See the Screen shot.

add new commentText Alignment
In older versions of Acrobat you could align text on bottom of text box or even rotate text. How do you do it in Acrobat Pro 9?
Confused in Ottawa
I have tried to follow your instructions, but I am unable to find any of the references starting from 4). The only alignment choices I am left with are located under "Layout" and "align", but all is greyed out.
I am also not sure if I am bringing up my form in lifecycle design or in adobe prof. So essentially, I am unable to do this.
Would you be able to respond with a little more specifics?
Thank you,
Text alignment in form fields
I have 8 professional but am unable to see the Paragraph tab as stated in the article. When the Properties bar's More button is clicked, the standard Text Field properties box displays but the different tabs do not contain a Paragraph tab or button. What am I doing wrong? This is a great tip if I can figure out how to access the formatting.
Thanks,
Charlie
