You are right about the EULA for Reader Save through Acrobat. However, there's nothing stopping you from posting an enabled form on a website - you are simply EULA-limited to gathering 500 instances of completed forms.

I'm not sure what you are disagreeing about re Approval... I think we agree. It was great. I was one of the 3rd party developers "howling" when Adobe pulled it!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Adobe's site states that "Reader Save" is only available under these terms:

"‡For ad hoc forms distribution and data collection for up to 500 people."

This makes it a terrific feature for inhouse use, but does not make online forms any more accessible for audiences over 500, right? Website users would still have to purchase retail Acrobat or one of the less costly alternatives.

I disagree with the charactrization of Acrobat Approval. I know many, many users who found it an ideal solution to the "Reader Save" problem. I wish Adobe would continue to offer this single, limited utility at an affordable price point. Until then, I would encourage users of online forms to continue to purchase Nitro or one of the simple fillers.

Excellent overview, Duff. I'm surprised more people haven't commented on this topic.

I think adding save capability to Reader 7 and 8 via Acrobat 8 Professional is going to be a very big deal. No longer will departments and work groups have to go to IT create very useful form workflows. All you need is one copy of Acrobat Pro and you have the makings of a basic workflow.
